A plethora of optical illusions have been sweeping the web in recent weeks but the latest may be the most baffling yet.

The image is leaving men and women completely stumped as they debate the answer online – and they still can’t reach a definitive conclusion.

The black and white picture has sparked a fierce debate, with men and women coming up with very varied answers.
Some users were convinced there were four, while others insisted that the elephant has five legs.
The answer? One leg.
Explaining why, one user wrote: ‘The reason you’ve having trouble with this image is due to the fact that the artist responsible for this image was very clever. The only correct elephant leg in the drawing is the back left leg. That leg is completely intact, but the others aren’t.
‘If you look very closely, you’ll see that the rest of the legs have the foot missing from them. Basically, the artist chopped the feet off of the legs and put the images of the feet between the actual legs. Look closely at the image and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.’
Many people refused to believe it and continued to challenge the answer, insisting that there were technically four legs, even if they didn’t have feet.
The elephant picture comes after a couple’s holiday photo left the internet doing a double take.

Thousands of users took to the comments section to share their confusion, with many pointing out she’s simply holding her handbag.
