How newcomers should choose the right skateboard

Are you a newcomer who wants to buy a skateboard?

Choosing a skateboard well when buying it is very important since depending on the person, the use that is going to be given to it, and the budget, several factors must be taken into account, not only the graphic, since after all, it is the first thing that breaks with its use.

Weight and height

It is necessary to take into account the weight, height, and foot size when choosing the most suitable table. For example, if you use a larger shoe size, between 44-47, it is best to use tables between 8.1-8.5 or even more if its use is for ramps.

Weight and height are important to take into account, but not as much as the size of the foot, think that one thing usually goes in compensation with the other, so choose mainly the size according to your foot, and between those measurements, choose the one that you think is more suitable for your body.

Skateboard deck measurements

As you well know, there are a wide variety of modalities for the use of skateboarding:

Street style, Freestyle, Ramps or skatepark, Cruising…

As we have mentioned before, weight, height, and foot size are very important at the time of selecting your table, but it also has a great influence on what type of skating you are going to do before you start choosing both the table and the rest of the components.

The measurements of the skateboard decks are taken into account by the width of the deck since it is the measurement that matters for the size of the foot. Measurements typically start at 7.5 inches (about 19 cm) and can be as wide as 9 inches (about 23 cm).

The smaller sizes (7.5 – 7.6 – 7.7 – 7.5 – 7.8-7.9) are usually used for street style (street skateboarding) or freestyle (skate tricks) since, having a smaller size, it is much easier to do everything type of tricks or turns with the board more easily.

The larger sizes (8.0-8.1-8.2-8.3-8.5-8.6-8.7-9.0) are mainly used for ramps (bowls/skatepark) or as a means of transportation on the street (cruising) since being larger They give much more stability and security when picking up speed.

Concave type

The concave of the board is also important, there are 3 different types:

Low, Medium, and High. Low would be the lowest, used mainly on touring boards or cruisers, Medium is the most common concave, and High is the highest, and most recommended for doing tricks, as it gives more grip.

Skateboard technologies

The technology or composition of the board is very important, especially if you already have experience on the skate and are looking for something resistant and durable. Logically, the better materials and composition of the table, the higher its cost.

At Voeep, you can find various skateboards in terms of materials and technologies.
