- Celebrations were happening in abundance yesterday for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding
- Revellers in cities and towns across the UK – including Blackpool and Birmingham – enjoyed a night out
- Many were also celebrating the FA Cup final and the hot summer weather – some with more style than others
Celebrations were happening in abundance yesterday for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s – now Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s – wedding in Windsor.
While a stunning Oprah Winfrey, a radiant Amal and George Clooney, and a glorious Serena Williams turned out for the royal couple’s nuptials, they weren’t the only ones to enjoy the occasion.
Royal well-wishers from across the UK joined in with the wedding fever on Saturday night along with those celebrating the FA Cup final.
Revellers took advantage of the two grand occasions as well as the hot summer weather and had a right royal knees-up in British cities and towns.
In Birmingham several royal fans looked worse for wear as they stumbled along the city’s streets, many being aided by others.
West Midlands Police were on hand to watch over the night which had no apparent trouble, with the region’s Ambulance service warning revellers to safe during their night out.
Writing on Twitter West Midlands Ambulance said: ‘If you’re going out celebrating the #RoyalWedding make sure you look after yourself and your mates so you all get home safe.’
While royal enthusiasts might have spent the night with cheap booze and fancy dress, with many wearing wedding dresses, the newly married couple had a ‘drinks of the world’ themed bar.
Harry and Meghan’s dinner party at Frogmore House in Windsor Great Park featured the Prince’s favourite House tracks ‘curated’ by DJ Sam Totolee, who also performed at Pippa Middleton’s wedding.
The menu featured candyfloss and ‘dirty burgers’ as midnight snacks, while one source reported a cocktail featuring ginger and rum was on the menu as a cheeky nod to Harry’s red hair, named ‘When Harry Met Meghan’.

Not the only wedding! Stag and Hen parties in Birmingham were out in force to celebrate not just the royal couple’s nuptials but their impending ones too
