How Sam Wood built his $71 million dollar empire: Bachelor star’s secret that led to a lavish life

It has been eight years since Australia was introduced to Sam Wood, the hunky lovelorn PT who found love with then single mother-of-one Snezana Markoski on The Bachelor.

And the six foot strapping star has come along way since he appeared on the Channel Ten dating show – going from humble personal trainer to a bona fide business mogul

The 42-year-old has built an multimillion dollar empire and sold his fitness program – 28 by Sam Wood – to genetics group myDNA for $71m last year.

Melbourne-based Wood credits his ‘hand-on’ approach to his success, after doing thousands of one-on-one personal training appointments over the years.

‘After a quick calculation, I’ve done over 58,000 1:1 personal training appointments over a sixteen-year career,’ he told DMARGE.

‘It was the hands-on experience of dealing with such a variety of clients that showed me what people want, and need, to help get themselves in shape and keep themselves in shape.’

Wood opened his premium gym facility The Woodshed in Brighton East in 2015, where he continues to run one-on-one and two-on-one personal training appointments.

Health and fitness hasn’t been the only part of Wood’s success however, he has also amassed a $10 million real estate portfolio off the back of his time as The Bachelor’s most successful leading man.

Since his time season three of The Bachelor, Sam had built a family and a fortune estimated to be close to $10 million from a series of shrewd property investments in central Melbourne and regional Victoria.

His property portfolio includes his $4 million home in Elsternwick which he shares with wife Snezana and four children, and a $3.6 million holiday home in Mt Martha.
