An Australian woman has shared a foolproof way to clean greasy range hood filters – no scrubbing required.

Susan, from Western Australia, shared before and after images to a popular Facebook group and praised The Glitz Cream Cleanser, which can be purchased from Bunnings Warehouse for $6.59.

‘I used to clean my range hood filter and put it in the dishwasher, I am sure I am not the only one in here. Not anymore!’ she wrote.

‘I found the easiest way to clean it and less than 10 minutes, no elbow scrub I promise.’

To transform the oily filters, she removed the filters from the range hood and spread the cream cleanser over the front and back.

She left it for a couple minutes then used a soft bristled brush to gently remove the build-up of oil.

Lastly she washed the filters under hot water and was surprised it worked so well.

‘First time and I did it.. very happy with the result,’ Susan said.

‘The dirty range hood filter photo is credited to Google as I forgot to take a picture, but the left picture is mine after I cleaned it.’

In the comments Susan added she knew it’s not recommended cleaning the filters in the dishwasher as it can cause damage, so she needed an alternative.

The simple cleaning ‘hack’ left the filters looking shiny and new, and ready to be used again.

The impressive transformation wowed hundreds on Facebook and many were eager to try the product for themselves.

‘I have never been able to get mine clean in the 17 years i have had it. I just manage to get it ‘less greasy’. I am going to try this!’ one person wrote.

Another said: ‘Might have to get some!! Thanks for sharing! I’m tired of cleaning range hood filters and having to scrub them.’

Another woman shared her own cleaning tip and wrote: ‘I soak mine in the sink with a dishwasher tablet for 15 mins or longer.. rinses clean.’
