A Melbourne mother has shared her simple five-step method for deep cleaning your toaster, and all you need is a hairdryer, some dish soap, vinegar and a cloth.

The woman, who goes by the name Mama Mila online, said deep cleaning your toaster every month is vital for keeping it clean from crumbs and grime.

‘It’s so easy to clean your toaster; you can do it while dinner is cooking,’ Mila posted on TikTok.

So what do you need to do?

The first and most important thing, Mila said, is unplug your device at the mains.

Next, she said you should remove the crumb trays, rinse them out and then wash them with dish soap.

‘Use a hair dryer to blow out any stuck crumbs,’ Mila said.

‘It’s much easier than lifting it as when I do, I always feel like I’ll break it.’

Finally, just clean the outside with a spray bottle full of vinegar and rub it clean with a microfibre cloth.

Then, just replace the trays and your toaster should be ready to go.

This isn’t the first household trick Mila has shared that has gone viral.

‘Pillows can breed bacteria and dust. Washing them every three to six months is important for your skin and health,’ Mila posted on TikTok.

Firstly, Mila explained that the majority of pillows can be washed in the washing machine.

‘Wash two at a time in liquid detergent. Power detergent may leave a film,’ Mila said.

The mum added that she always adds a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil to the mix, which gets rid of any dust mites.

‘Dry the pillows flat in the shade until they’re nearly dry,’ she said.

When the pillows are nearly dry, you should pop them into the dryer with a tennis ball in a sock.

Mila said you should do this for five minutes, as the tennis ball helps to ‘fluff the pillow and avoid bunching’.

‘It’s important to follow the care instructions of your individual pillows, but this works with most,’ Mila said.
