How to dry laundry faster without a tumble dryer: Mums rave about the best cleaning hack ever

Mums rave about ‘brilliant’ yet simple washing machine trick for making your clothes dry in half the time: ‘This is the best hack ever’

  • Cleaning fans say to run laundry on an extra spin cycle
  • The trick makes washing dry much quicker
  • They also recommended using a scoop of Lectric Washing Soda

Clever mums have discovered a handy hack for drying clothes super fast and making your laundry come out sparkling clean.

They claim running a load of laundry through an extra spin cycle gets rid of excess water and ‘cuts drying time in half’.

Cleaning gurus also said adding a scoop of Lectric Washing Soda to each load will lift stains and leave laundry feeling fresh as it apparently ‘softens hard water’.

Mums have raving about the helpful tricks online and while some swear by an extra spin cycle others slammed the advice for ‘wasting electricity’.

Many said the extra spin cycle is especially useful in the winter months and during humid weather when washing can take ‘days’ to dry.

A mum has shared the ‘best hack she’s learnt’ that will have laundry dry in half the time. She said she puts her washing on a extra spin cycle to get rid of excess water

‘Not sure who it was that first posted/commented about running your washing through another spin cycle after a wash but it is hands down THE best hack I’ve learnt from this page so far!!’ a Melbourne mum said in the Mums Who Clean Facebook group.

‘Also, adding a scoop of Lectric Washing Soda to every load and my clothes have never come out better!!’

Dozens of group members were quick to agree the two tips were ‘brilliant’ and said the drying hack was the ‘best’ cleaning advice they’ve been given.

‘Yessss I do this after every wash makes it soo much faster to dry them!’ one mum replied.

‘Agreed! I also run the spin cycle after a wash and cuts the drying time in half. One of the best tips I’ve received from this page!’ said another.

‘I saw that tip posted and started doing it a few months ago. It’s amazing, drys so much quicker on the line and in the dryer,’ a third wrote.

She also said using a scoop of Lectric Washing Soda in each laundry load softens hard water and lifts tough stains

‘Bloody brilliant I did this today as we have rain forecast tomorrow. Everything dry by lunchtime,’ a fourth added.

Not everyone was convinced the trick was effective as one woman said it was a ‘waste of electricity’.

Another claimed the spin made clothes more wrinkled but someone suggested giving everything ‘a good shake’ before hanging it up.

‘I’ve always had to do this. We don’t have a drier so washing has to dry on indoor drying racks during winter,’ a user said.

‘If I don’t run them through a second spin cycle in winter they take two days to dry and end up with a horrible damp smell. I hate wasting the electricity but just don’t have the space for a drier.’

Some were curious what Lectric Washing Soda, which can be found in most supermarkets, does to washing and many responded saying it softens water and lifts stains.

Lectric Washing Soda can be used to reduce limescale in hard water and is known for its ability to dissolve grease and heavy stains on cottons and linen.
