  • Experts from shoe label Reebok have revealed how to get your sneakers white
  • Using just seven ingredients, you can get them shining in seven steps
  • Baking soda, nail polish remover and hydrogen peroxide are what you need

White sneakers are all well and good, until you scuff them, go out in the rain or end up in a muddy area.

But grubby white shoes can soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a viral video from Reebok that shows how you can get them gleaming from home in minutes.

Using just a razor, toothbrush, baking soda, water, nail polish remover, hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of dish soap, you can bring your sneakers back to their fresh-from-the-box previous life.

So how do you do it?

First of all, the experts at Reebok recommend you lie out your canvas or leather sneakers, along with the six ingredients you’re going to need.

Next, pour some water and five tablespoons of baking soda into a bowl and give it a little stir together with your toothbrush.

Squeeze a few drops (around one to two tablespoons) of dish soap into the white mixture and again, combine the elements.

Add one to two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide, stir and your mixture is ready to go.

Next, wipe the upper leather part and tongue down with a paper towel or soft cloth to get a clean look (pictured)

Following this, you should take your soft-bristled toothbrush, dip it into the mixture and scrub the shoe.

Reebok recommend soft bristles as they make it easier to target dirt.

They said you shouldn’t forget to scrub the tongue, too.

Next, wipe the upper leather part and tongue down with a paper towel or soft cloth.

‘This next step is one of our favorites,’ the experts said.

‘You’ll be amazed as the dirt disappears! Moisten a cotton ball with nail polish remover and begin to clean the midsole of the shoe. Continue this step until you’ve achieved your desired level of cleanliness.’

This should be followed by using a razor to get rid of any pilling on the inside of the shoe.

‘If you want super shiny shoes, toss those laces in your next load of laundry so they’re [just] as clean,’ Reebok said.

The shoes should end up looking good as new.

The video has racked up close to 100,000 views with many people saying they are extremely impressed with the nifty at-home method.

‘So effective,’ one person posted.

Another suggested if you want to get rid of a bad smell from the inside that you place teabags inside the shoes and leave them overnight.
