A health coach has shared how to make a quick, easy and healthy McDonald’s sausage and egg McMuffin that’s only 352 calories. 

Bec Hardgrave from Brisbane, Queensland, used only four affordable ingredients to recreate the classic menu item that comes packed with 25 grams of protein. 

To make the McMuffin Bec first took one sausage out of its casing and rolled the meat into a ball then flattened it with her hand to create a patty shape.

She cracked one egg into a stainless steel ring on a hot pan and placed the patty in to cook as well, while she waited she sliced one wholemeal English Muffin in half. 

Bec toasted the muffin inside her toaster and placed one slice of smokey cheddar cheese from Coles onto the toasted bottom half. 

She then sat her perfectly cooked egg on top followed by her sausage and placed the top half of the muffin on to enjoy. 

How to make Bec’s sausage and egg McMuffin:

Ingredients:  

  • 1 Wholemeal English Muffin 
  • 1 Extra Lean Beef Peppercorn Sausages
  • 1 Egg OR 2 Egg Whites
  • 1 Coles Smokey Cheese Slice

 Method: 

  1. Take one sausage out of its casing and roll the meat into a ball then flatten it out to create a patty shape.
  2. Crack one egg into a stainless steel egg ring on a hot pan and place the patty into the pan to cook as well.  
  3. Slice one wholemeal English Muffin in half and toast it inside the toaster. 
  4. Place one slice of smokey cheddar cheese from Coles onto the toasted bottom half. 
  5. Sit the cooked egg on top followed by the sausage patty and place the top half of the muffin on to enjoy.

The health coach says to make the ‘fakeaway’ meal even healthier, you can replace the egg with two egg yolks which brings the calorie count to only 314. 

Bec says this is one of her favourite breakfast recipes to make and encourages all McDonald’s fans to try out the simple recipe.

She posted her tasty recreation to social media and hundreds of foodies have since shared their thoughts on the fakeaway item.
