A creative shopper with knack for quick and easy DIY projects has made an on-trend rattan stand using two unlikely Kmart buys.

While shopping at her local Kmart store she had a ‘lightbulb moment’ to craft the product herself using two wooden rolling pics and three rattan trays.

‘So I was hunting around for a nice cupcake stand for a function and couldn’t believe how hard it was to find and I didn’t want a cardboard or plastic one,’ Sally wrote online.

‘I had a light bulb moment in Kmart and made my own I used two rolling pins, three rattan trays and some glue (liquid nails).’

To make the stand she removed the ends of the rolling pins and carefully glued the leftover pieces to the bottom of each tray.

Underneath the third tray, she also glued down the ends of the rolling pins that were removed.

The end result looked fantastic as if it had been purchased from a store and perfectly matched the tablescape.

‘OMG I love this!’ one person wrote, another added: ‘Very impressive, what a great idea.’

‘This is fantastic, thanks for the idea. I definitely need to make this,’ a third added.

‘Now that’s a hack! So clever and looks awesome,’ another added.
