How to use a bubble wand: Things we’ve been doing wrong our whole lives

Thousands of parents stunned after realising they’ve been using bubble wands with kids WRONG their whole lives: ‘My mind is blown’

  • A mum and dad have shared the little known correct way to use a bubble wand
  • Cullen and Katie, a husband and wife team, were using them wrong for years
  • The wands are not waved through the air but moved up and down and blown
  • Followers have mixed reviews about the supposed ‘correct’ method

A couple has shared the ‘correct’ way to use a bubble wand when entertaining children, leaving thousands of fellow parents stunned.

Instead of waving the wand through the air, American parents Cullen and Katie claim you are supposed to rapidly move the wand in and out of the tube whilst blowing into it.

This, as they demonstrated on TikTok, creates a ‘rapid fire effect’ of bubbles through the air.

In the video Cullen presented Katie with a bubble wand and asked her how she would normally use it.

The mum immediately started waving the wand through the air to create bubbles and questioned ‘how there could there be any other way’.

‘I was today years old when I learned that’s supposedly not the correct way,’ Cullen said.

Giving a demonstration of the correct method, Cullen held the wand upright and started moving the wand in and out of the tube whilst blowing to create bubbles.

‘Oh my gosh.. what in the world. Are you kidding me?’ the surprised mum said.

‘I mean it looks a little dirty,’ she laughed.

The parents also believe this method will prevent spills.

‘You know how many times the kids spill the bubbles?’ Katie said.

‘They would have a field day with this method and they wouldn’t get so frustrated that it kept messing up, that’s amazing.’

The video has been played over 18 million times and while most love it, others disagree with the method.

‘This is amazing! Lol,’ one woman said.

‘Thanks. I definitely was doing it wrong. Me and my granddaughter hold it in front of a fan and let bubbles fly,’ a grandmother said.

‘Can’t get caught making bubbles like this,’ one man joked.

Other common things we’ve been using wrong all our lives

* Most people use bobby pins upside down – the bumpy side should be facing downwards

* The drawer at the bottom of the oven is for keeping food warm, not storage

* You should never drink beer from the bottle – up to 2/3 of the aroma can be lost

* The hole inside a pasta spoon is to measure one portion of pasta

* Using too much detergent causes stains to become more stubborn by trapping them

* Store peanut butter upside down to prevent oil separation

 * Food should be placed on the edge of the microwave plate not the centre to thoroughly reheat food

* Avocados should be cut across the middle horizontally rather than vertically to let less surface area left open to air

* There is an order you should follow when making smoothies – liquids first then solids

 * Jeans should be hung on a coat hanger before wrapping the loop at the back of the denim around the top of the hanger

Some felt like this method was just as difficult as cleaning up spills.

‘Nope, that’s too much blowing. Just spill it, kids. Then splash in the bubbles and leave the empty bubble wand in the yard for the next 5 years,’ one woman said.

Another woman said the two different methods provide a choice between ‘almost throwing out my shoulder,’ and ‘hyperventilating.’
