How to utilise the gaps beside your fridge:

A clever mum has revealed how you can make use of the ‘annoying fridge gap’ in your home by turning it into a spice cupboard for just $50.

The mum posted a photo of her impressive spice collection, which now lives in the narrow space between the wall and the fridge.

‘Here is my fridge gap spice rack made from two spice rack kits screwed together,’ she wrote alongside the photo in a popular Bunnings Facebook group.

She explained she plans to paint the new spice shelf white and add a handle to make it easier to pull in and out.

And people were impressed with many explaining they have been looking for a shelf for the narrow space.

‘I have been looking for something to fit that gap and this is perfect!’ one woman wrote.

‘I could kiss you right now. I have been wanting a rack just like this for my essential oils,’ one woman said.

Another DIY mum said she was beginning to wonder if she would have to ‘go back to her year seven skill classes and make one from scratch’.   

Some were concerned the rack could be quite heavy – but others solved that issue on the spot.

‘I would add wheels to the bottom so it is easy to pull out,’ one woman wrote.

But the mum said she didn’t like wheels when she tried them.

‘I stuck felt on the bottom to make it easy to slide instead,’ she said. 

 Ninety people commented on the post, thrilled with the clever mum for sharing it.
