How to visit the prettiest Lawson convenience store in Kawaguchiko, Japan, with Mt Fuji views

The incredible reason why everyone is talking about this little convenience store: ‘It’s breathtaking’

  • Small food store has incredible Mt Fuji views
  • It’s been called ‘the prettiest convenience store in the world’

Travellers have discovered what many are calling the ‘prettiest convenience store in the world’.

The Lawson food store is a two-and-a-half-hour train ride south-west of Tokyo and has become a very popular photo spot for visitors.

What’s so spectacular about it is that Japan’s world-famous Mount Fuji creates an unexpectedly breathtaking backdrop.

The epic 3,776m-tall mountain, also known as Fuji-san, is only visible when the weather permits so not everyone will be able to see the convenience store in all its glory.

Those lucky enough to visit on an a clear day will see the spectacular mountain looking as if it is perched atop the store’s roof.

Travellers are flocking to a tiny convenience store two hours outside Tokyo for its views of the famous Mount Fuji

Neighbouring the Kawaguchiko train station near Lake Kawaguchi, the store is such a hotspot for travellers that staff have had to erect a sign to tell distracted Instagrammers to be careful not to walk into the busy street.

Travel blogger Vivian wowed thousands after she showcased the little-known gem in an online video.

The Canadian adventurer said it was the ‘prettiest convenience store with a Mt. Fuji view’.

‘Prettiest store? You mean the mountain is built on top of the store to look great?’ one viewer joked.

‘I went there recently!! Didn’t know it was a trendy photo spot until my guide told me. Had to go snap a few shots myself, despite it being a little crowded! It’s a fun memory,’ another said.

‘This is definitely the prettiest convenience store location,’ said a third while others called the view ‘stunning’, ‘magical’ and ‘beautiful’

Those who had seen the ‘unreal’ store for themselves were sharing their experiences with some saying it sold ‘top tier’ snacks but another warned those who want to visit should check the weather first.

‘Check index to make sure the mountain is visible before making the trek out,’ one person recommended.

‘It’s limited edition because it’s only when weather permits,’ Vivian replied.

‘It’s quite crowded and they had to put up special signs for people not crossing the street wherever they want,’ a third added.
