How would you stack up next to T.Rex? Interactive chart reveals the TRUE size of the dinosaurs – and you’ll be shocked at how small some species really were!

  • This incredible graphic reveals how you would square up to famous dinosaurs
  • Some of the smallest dinosaurs would have been no larger than a housecat

The idea of squaring up against a dinosaur might sound like the stuff of nightmares.

But as this interactive reveals, many of the dinosaurs were much smaller than Jurassic Park might have led you to believe.

At the truly colossal end of the scale, gigantic creatures like the Spinosaurus towered over the ancient landscape at almost 18 feet (5.4m) tall.

This semi-aquatic predator lurked in the tidal flats of North Africa 99 million years ago and owes much of its height to its spectacular fin, which may have helped it swim to catch prey.

At the other end of the scale was the minuscule anchiornis, which probably could only have nipped at your ankles.

At just one foot (0.3m) tall, this tiny dinosaur was no larger than a housecat when it roamed the Earth more than 150 million years ago.

So, which dinosaurs could you stand shoulder-to-shoulder with? Scroll through this graphic to find out.
