A young football fan has made an adorable and generous gesture to an Australian star after finding a £5 note on the ground at a match.

Huddersfield Town fan Adam Bhana watched his team claim an upset 2-1 win over English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United on Sunday.

The nine-year-old found a £5 note on the ground at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield and decided to send it to Socceroos star Aaron Mooy, who scored a crucial goal in the game.

‘We cannot keep what is not ours,’ Adam wrote in the letter.

‘Can you please ask Mr Wagner if Aaron Mooy can keep the money because he played very well and scored yesterday.’

Mr Jarvis shared the heart-warming letter on Twitter, saying it was ‘pure class from young Adam’.

Mooy replied to the tweet saying he would ‘love to meet’ the youngster.

Adam’s father Mo told the BBC his son initially wanted to send the club the money so they could acquire world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘We asked a couple of people behind us if it belonged to them and they said it didn’t so I looked behind us and there was a club press officer talking to someone.

‘We tried to get his attention but couldn’t as he was busy in conversation, so Adam decided to write a letter instead.’

Mr Bhana said the family have since heard from Mooy and were looking forward to meeting him.

The transfer made Mooy Australia’s most expensive footballer.
