Hugh Grant and  Anna Eberstein enjoy Christmas market

He returned to the big screen for his leading role as the villain in Paddington 2.

But Hugh Grant, 57, took time away from work as he enjoyed some quality time with stunning girlfriend Anna Eberstein at a Christmas market in London on Sunday.

The dashing actor wrapped up warm in his beanie hat with pom poms and anorak as he got into the festive spirit and browsed what the pop-up store had to offer.

With Christmas fastly approaching in weeks ahead, the Bridget Jones star proved he was unable to resist a bargain when he splashed out on a silver cocktail shaker.

Hugh’s Swedish girlfriend wore her caramel-coloured tresses in a loosely tousled style, brushed from her face to show off her youthful features.

The couple were in high spirits as they enjoyed a joke amid the bustling crowd at the festive market in the overcast British capital.

The lovebirds ensured they enjoyed some spending alone time together without their two children, five-year-old son John and their one-year-old child.

The name of their second child is shrouded in secrecy but the birth of the baby was confirmed by Anna’s mum to a Swedish newspaper at the time in December 2012.

Hugh is also father to daughter Tabitha, four, and son Felix, two, who he shares with Chinese beauty Tinglan Hong.

As for former flames, he enjoyed a high-profile romance with Elizabeth Hurley, 52, which courted a lot of attention in the 1990s. The past lovers split amicably in May 2000 after 13 years together.

As for his star-studded career, he skipped the opportunity to be involved in the third installment of Bridge Jones.

The Hollywood heartthrob recently starred in Paddington 2 alongside Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters and Peter Capaldi.

Paddington 2 follows on from the first movie which ended with the nation’s favourite bear happily living with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens.

Hugh Bonneville reprises his role as the head of the Brown family who take in the little brown bear. Meanwhile, Grant takes on a new role as the somewhat shady, charming actor Phoenix Buchanan, whose career has diminished in recent years.

The actor showed off his cheeky character when he poked fun at himself when he discussed his role in the flick on The Graham Norton Show in November.

He joked his latest part brought him back down to earth as he was approached to play the role of a ‘self-obsessed, ex-famous actor’.

Hugh enthused: ‘I got a letter with the script saying, “We’ve got this part of an extremely self-obsessed, ex-famous actor that’s fallen on hard times.”

‘I was a fraction hurt! But it was a very funny script and it was a tad therapeutic as I have deep reservoirs of actorly narcissism, neurosis, anger and hatred that I was able to tap!’

The Love Actually star was joined on the show by Aquaman star Jason Momoa and comedian Sarah Millican, with the latter gushing: ‘Doesn’t everybody love you?’
