Hugh Jackman looks downcast as he nurses an injured finger while promoting Deadpool & Wolverine in Brazil

His iconic character Wolverine is known for having an indestructible adamantium skeleton.

But Hugh Jackman proved he was only human this week as he was seen nursing an injured finger while promoting Deadpool & Wolverine in Brazil.

The 55-year-old was seen with a bandage around the little finger on his right hand as he stood on his hotel balcony in Rio De Janeiro while taking a break from promotional duties with co-star Ryan Reynolds.

Cutting a buff figure, Jackman showed off his huge biceps in a simple grey polo shirt and a pair of black chinos

At one stage, Hugh pressed his injured hand against his forehead and sported a terse expression, suggesting his pinky may have been causing him some discomfort.

While his turn as the iconic superhero has no doubt catapulted Hugh to international stardom, he recently revealed that after auditioning for the iconic role for 2000’s X-Men, he thought he missed out on the part.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in July, Hugh said he felt he had ‘messed it up’ but was shocked when current Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege offered to take him out for dinner.

‘I said, ” Kevin, we all know I’m not getting the part. You don’t have to do dinner”,’ Hugh told the publication.

‘But no, he sat in there and had a steak dinner with me and then drove me to the airport. I’ll never forget it. That was the nicest thing. I thought, ”I’ll never see him again”.’

Hugh has played the Marvel character in eight X-Men films from 2000 until 2016, and was last seen as Wolverine in standalone movie Logan in 2017.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be the 10th time the Aussie has donned those iconic claws for the popular role.
