And on Sunday, the Marvel star, 55, shared some photos to Instagram showing the dietary sacrifices he’s making to play the iconic superhero once more.
One of the extremely modest meals that currently comprise his diet consisted of just three very tiny slices of fish, some steamed asparagus and a slice of lemon.
Another was simply one slice of fish and some beans.
And a third meal was nothing but a dollop of cottage cheese and chopped up broccoli.

Hugh has been on a health kick in recent months, sharing photos of his healthy meals and jaw-dropping workouts, as he gets fit in order to play Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.
Generally, men require about 2500 calories a day to simply maintain their weight, suggesting Hugh will once again stack on the muscle to play the legendary comic book character.
However, Hugh revealed last year that he was consuming up to 8000 calories a day to ensure his body was in top shape to play the iconic superhero.

Last year, Hugh revealed it will take him six months of hardcore training to physically prepare for his return as Wolverine.
The Sydney native went on Who’s Taking to Chris Wallace and opened up about the amount of time and dedication that it takes to become the iconic mutant.
Jackman is set to reprise his most famous role for Reynold’s Deadpool 3, which is scheduled for release later this year, donning the claws for the first time since 2017’s Logan.

‘I’m not doing any other work,’ Hugh declared to Chris Wallace, according to Complex. ‘I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.’
Hugh initially appeared as Wolverine in the first X-Men movie in 2000 and the character’s enormous popularity saw Hugh star in several sequels and spin offs.
Deadpool 3 isn’t slated for release until July and is still filming in England, but Ryan and Hugh have already teased the plot in a funny follow-up video, driving fans wild in the process.
Hugh looks to be throwing himself into work after announcing his shock split from his wife Deborra-Lee Furness last year, after 27 years of marriage.
