Hugh Sheridan claims it sad that ‘people would rather watch Love Island!’

Actor Hugh Sheridan has claimed Australian television is lacking in originality, forcing viewers to resort to watching reality shows like Love Island.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the 32-year-old lamented: ‘Television has found itself in a rut’.

He explained: ‘Australia finds something that works and then replicates it a million times until everyone falls asleep.’

But growing disillusioned with the Australian entertainment industry, Hugh abandoned his Logie-winning career and moved to Los Angeles in 2014.

However, rather than focusing on conquering Hollywood, the star relocated to ignite his singing career.

‘I moved there to pursue music,’ he told BW magazine in May.

‘And the main thing I didn’t want people to think was that I was an actor giving singing a shot,’ he said.

The heartthrob has gone on to lead the California Crooners Club with bandmates Emile Welman and Gabe Roland.

But Hugh hasn’t completely turned his back on acting and will next be seen playing a soldier in political war thriller Escape and Evasion with Josh McConville and Firass Dirani.
