Hull landlord shares photos of home covered in dog mess

Shocking photos have revealed the disgusting state ‘tenants from hell’ left their house in.

Landlord David Girtchen has spoken of his shock after finding dog faeces scattered across the west Hull house, bedroom walls covered in graffiti and bathroom tiles ripped off the walls.

Rubbish was also left piled high in the back garden’s garage and in rooms across the house, along with stained mattresses and discarded children’s toys in the bedrooms.

David Girtchen, pictured in the front room of his house in west Hull was shocked to discover the state his previous tenants had left the property in after running up a £5,000 debt

Mr Girtchen said his tenants of five years owe him £5,000 in rent, and have not paid a penny since July.

‘I have had a couple and three children living in the house for the last five years,’ he said.

‘For the first few years they were fine – they paid their rent on time and nothing was a problem.

‘Then about two or three years ago they missed a payment at Christmas, and from then it has been £100 here and £200 there.’

The tenants, who disappeared without a trace several weeks ago, are now being taken to court over the state they left the property in.

The dog left locked inside has since been rescued by the RSPCA and Mr Girtchen said he was in a state of shock at the state his house was left.

‘The front window has been smashed, and the house is just full of dog c**p.

‘There is a laminate flooring downstairs which I think will need replacing due to the staining from the mess the dog has left.

‘The garage roof has holes in it, and there is just stuff piled up everywhere – they have left me with an awful lot of cleaning up to do.’

The landlord, who lived in the house for 20 years before renting it out, said county court proceedings had been listed for December against the pair, who cannot currently be named for legal reasons.

One hearing will investigate the rent owed to the landlord – which he says he will ‘try his hardest to recover’ – and the other will appeal for the right to evict the tenants.

It is also understood the RSPCA, who took the dog into their care after it was found locked in the house, are investigating.

‘I can’t understand what they thought they were doing. They have three kids in there,’ the landlord said.

‘The message I would send to them if they are reading this is, they need to seriously have a look at their lives and assess what they have done.

‘They have ignored a number of court letters already, and if they do not turn up in December then they will be arrested for contempt of court.

‘I just can’t see this having any impact on them at all. I took a county court judgement for £3,000 out about three months ago, but that has been totally ignored.’

The landlord said the dog they had left behind was ‘lovely and friendly’.

He said the RSPCA rescued the dog after confirming no-one was still living there.
