Hulu suffers outage as users say they can’t log into $7.99-a-month streaming app

Hulu is suffering a major outage this evening.

Users reported problems with the app starting around 3pm ET, with many struggling to log into their accounts.

Others had trouble connecting to the internet. Hulu’s support team acknowledged the issue and said it was investigating the cause.

The cybercrime group SN Blackmeta has claimed credit for the outage.

The outage is thought to have been caused by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

The attack involves flooding a server with internet traffic to prevent users from accessing online services.

The attacker attempts to extract money out of the organization in exchange for stopping the attack.

Hulu has more than 50 million paying subscribers, while 4.5 million users subscribe to the streamer’s Hulu Live TV bundle.

Its subscription service starts at $7.99 a month with ads.
