There are grave fears for a driver after a truck burst into flames in a two vehicle crash on a busy motorway in Sydney’s southwest, causing peak hour chaos.

Emergency services rushed to the Hume Highway at Blair Athol after reports two trucks had collided near Narellan Road at about 6.30am on Thursday.

Footage filmed by a passing motorist showed one of the trucks rolled on its side and engulfed in flames on the nature strip next to the road.

It’s understood one of the drivers remains unaccounted for.

‘Fire and Rescue NSW officers are working to extinguish the blaze,’ NSW Police said.

‘Paramedics have treated a driver at the scene for various injuries.’

Police have closed the southbound lanes on the Hume Highway and motorists are being urged to diverted from the area.

Drivers are being told to expect delays and are being advised to seek alternate routes via Campbelltown Road.
