Hundreds of women post revealing snaps after Russia murder

Hundreds of young women in Russia are posting revealing pictures of themselves in a flashmob protest over claims that an A-grade student brutally raped and murdered by her ex-boyfriend had ‘provoked’ him by posing nude on social media.

Tatiana Strakhova, 19, was raped as she lay dying by her monster ex-boyfriend Artyom Iskhakov after she refused to have sex with him.

When she died he twice had sex with her corpse, and he revealed his sickening abuse in a running commentary on the web, before he hanged himself.

Diatribes online blaming the victim have sparked a furious and deeply concerned riposte from women now posting images of themselves naked or semi-naked under the hashtag 'it's not a reason to kill'. Pictured: Irina

In a message posted for her parents and friends, he stated after punching, strangling and knifing her: ‘I got mad because of thinking of ****ing her so much that I killed her.’

A wave of comments from men and women on the Russian internet bluntly suggested she had ‘provoked’ the 19-year-old male student – her flatmate – by posting her revealing pictures.

They also branded her a ‘prostitute’ and said she lacked morals because she showed her body on the web.

The diatribes sparked a furious and deeply concerned riposte from women now posting images of themselves naked or semi-naked under the hashtag ‘it’s not a reason to kill’.

Liza Pereverzeva posted a semi-nude picture of herself with the words: ‘This is my body.

‘The fact that you see it does not mean that I can be killed and raped.

‘Nothing justifies this violence.’

Julia, from Krasnodar, posted an image showing her topless with a message reading: ‘This is the first and probably the last time I take part in a flashmob.

‘I have never taken a news story so much to my heart…

‘Many must have heard how a male student – who brutally killed and raped a young girl – described his actions in detail and hanged himself.

‘I opened the account of this dead girl and what did I see?

‘Lots of posts offering sympathies?

‘No, I saw a gigantic flow of s*** – ‘she is guilty here’, ‘she provoked him’, ‘a hooker with tattoos and pink hair’, ‘she deserved it, she ought to have had sex with him’.

‘I felt sick.

‘I am sickened because, in 2018, for the majority of people tattoos and pink hair is a sign of someone’s immorality, and a murder can be approved because somebody had nude pictures in her Instagram.

‘I am scared to find so many barbarian and cruel people.’

Katya Obukhova, from Ekaterinburg, posted a revealing picture on her bed and wrote: ‘I can’t keep silent.

‘I did not plan to show this photograph to anyone except my husband.

‘But then I came across this horrible story and I am still shocked.

‘The reaction of people just KILLED me.

‘This girl was called a prostitute, and she ‘deserved it’…

‘My question is – how does a healthy society approve of rapists and killers if their victim posted semi-nude pictures in social networks?

‘Violence is NOT normal.

‘There is nothing that can justify violence.

‘A sexual body is not a call to violence. No means no!’

Another woman, Miroslava Andreeva, wrote: ‘I love my body.

‘When it was growing, I loved it because of its new shapes, because it was feminine, it copied the body of my mother.

‘Recently I began to love it because it is my body and it is my best ‘belonging’.

‘My body is my treasure, it is me, it allows me to live, breath, laugh, kiss, hug and do all I want to do.

‘I love it because it is sexual.

‘Sexuality is your personal freedom and your choice, nobody has a right to abuse you, shame or judge you because of it.’

Marina asked: ‘Does it mean that if you post a nude photograph it is a reason to abuse and throw s*** at you?

‘I feel ashamed for those people who justify what this guy did.’

Olga commented: ‘Oh my God, boobs!

‘These days on Instagram there are more semi-nude or nude women than clothed.

‘Bloggers post about the love for your own body, about accepting your own body.

‘Who can be surprised by naked breasts or (save me God) a nipple visible under clothes in the 21st century?

‘But crowds of moralists with their ‘hooker’ slogan kill your intentions to make aesthetic photographs for yourself and your family.

‘Those who shout about hookers, later masturbate looking at these photos.

‘Just accept it as a piece of art and calm down.

‘It is not your body, it is not your business.’

Nika said: ‘When I opened the comments under this piece… (I saw) ‘arrogant t***’, ‘this is what happens when you say no’, ‘this story is a lesson for many girls’, ‘one more hooker died’, ‘she provoked him on the internet’.

‘I feel shivers because of all this.

‘Once again a criminal is justified because of his victim’s face, personality and behaviour.

‘There is no single crime against a woman when somebody does not try to blame her.

‘It is my choice and it is not a reason to kill me, but it is dangerous to live now.

‘I have just one life and I don’t want to be afraid because of some photographs.’

Anastasia Prilipova, from Brest, in Belarus, posted a picture of herself asleep in bed.

‘You can judge, look, hate me and my photos, but it is not a reason to kill,’ she wrote.

‘Why is it so hard for everyone to understand and remember?

‘I’ve projected the situation on myself, because the killer and the victim are about my age.

‘Any friend of mine could be that very killed girl. Any one of you could be that very girl.

‘No one is safe.

‘Just think that after we were killed, all our posts, all photos, all the words and words that were said and written before, were interpreted in such a way as to say ‘She is to blame, she deserves it.’

‘I posted my picture here for a reason. People can have every lifestyle they want, post any pictures they want, be sexual, be beautiful and this is not the reason to kill them.

‘I ask you to support the action.’

The women were outraged by a flood of comments such as this one: ‘She (Tatiana Stakhova) behaved like a prostitute.

‘Look at her body all in tattoos, so many of them as if she was in jail!

‘I know, you’ll say now – oh, you can’t judge somebody because of tattoos?

‘And I say you can!

‘Look at her lifestyle: alcohol, drugs, one picture with a dildo in her hand!

‘I know nobody has a right to kill but she provoked this young man!

‘She knew about his feelings, why did she provoke him them?

‘Such an egoistical person, she got what she deserved!

‘He has parents too, a mother and father who raised him, fed him, and this girl pushed him to this…’

Another read: ‘What does she expect if she taunts him with her half-naked pictures?’

One more from Vladimir Kozkin: ‘He simply cleaned up our nation a bit from hookers.’

Alluding to her pictures, an Orthodox priest wrote ‘her whoredom finally killed her’.

Tatiana and her killer were students at two top Moscow universities.
