Huntsman who ‘murdered a family’ is captured in Ohio

A man accused of killing four members of the same family, including a seven-year-old boy, has been captured by police after two days on the run.

Aaron Lawson, 23, was arrested and taken into custody in southern Ohio on Friday after fleeing into woods near the trailer where a family was murdered.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless says Devin Holston, seven, was shot and his body apparently hidden in the property where three other adults were found dead on Wednesday.

Lawson is an outdoorsman and hunter who liked being in the woods, but ‘I think he was just plumb worn out from being out in the elements’ during a manhunt that spanned two cool nights, Lawrence County Sheriff Jeffery Lawless said.

He is being held on charges of murder and aggravated murder. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has an attorney.

The suspect was arrested roughly 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of where authorities found three adults dead in a house trailer on Wednesday evening.

The sheriff identified them Friday as a 28-year-old resident of the home, Stacey Jackson, and two relatives who lived at a property on the same road, 50-year-old Donald McGuire and 43-year-old Tammie McGuire.

Deputies found the bodies of three adults in a house trailer in an unincorporated area of Lawrence County at about 7:30pm Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.

Lawless told the Ironton Tribune that all those involved were ‘related in some way.’

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies spotted Lawson in a blue truck in Ironton, about 15 miles  south of where the victims were found, the sheriff said.

Deputies chased Lawson before he crashed his vehicle into a ditch and ran into the woods, the sheriff said.

A few relatives of the victims said after the arrest that they had seen no sign or warning of such violence by Lawson, who lived up the road from the trailer home.
