A soon-to-be dad has taken to Reddit to share his frustration over his wife who insists on naming their first child with a gender neutral moniker.
The 27-year-old husband said the name had not become an issue until he and his pregnant wife recently found out they were having a baby girl.
His wife immediately declared that she wanted to stray away from traditional girl names incase their daughter ever transitioned in the future.
The husband wanted to name their daughter either Orion, Violet, Scarlet or Dakota, although his wife is set on the names Hunter, Scout, Payton, Rory, Morgan or Kai.

His persistent wife will not budge on the gender neutral name choices and has even threatened to register their daughter’s birth certificate without him.
‘Wife kind of threatened to not give me a choice and will tell nurses and doctors beforehand to not ask me for the baby’s information for the birth certificate,’ he said.
He also told his wife that most people who do go through transitions change their given name to one they personally identify with but his wife still will not budge.
The soon-to-be dad says he feels ridiculous about the whole ordeal and thinks the name should not take away any rights or opinions on his baby girl.
After sharing his thoughts the he received a huge response from people, parents and those who have transitioned themselves on the name debacle.

‘Take it from a trans person, your wife is very much over thinking this. Your kid can change her name whenever she feels like it,’ a transgender user wrote.
‘I think that’s super unfair. [Your wife] removed all compromise from the equation this is both your child and you should both get a say,’ another wrote.
‘Take it from a parent of a trans kid. The kid will change their name because it represents a break,’ a parent wrote.
