Husband pranks wife by wearing funny costumes in background of her Zoom calls

‘My colleagues love this!’ Man pranks his wife – and delights her co-workers – by dressing up in hilarious costumes to sit in the background of her Zoom conference calls

  • Cara Fields, a Director and Marketing Chief of Staff at Elanco in Indiana, has been working from her dining room at home
  • Her husband Matt, 35, has been coming in and sitting behind her during the calls
  • He dresses up in different costumes every time, from Where’s Waldo to the red power ranger
  • Cara said her colleagues always notice before she does and start laughing

An Indiana woman says her jokester husband has been ‘Zoom bombing’ her conference calls — by sitting behind her in the background wearing silly costumes.

Cara Fields, a Director and Marketing Chief of Staff at Elanco, wrote on Facebook and LinkedIn that her husband Matt, 35, has taken up the funny new ‘hobby’ during quarantine.

When she is busy on a video call for work, he comes into the room and sits behind her dresses as a cowboy, Where’s Waldo, and even Batman.

‘My husband has a new quarantine hobby of Zoom bombing my conference calls,’ she wrote.

‘The colleagues I’m meeting with always see him before I do. Never a dull moment in this household!’

The first couple of times, he wore a jazzy Hawaiian shirt and a cowboy hat, and set up at his own computer at the dining room table behind her.

He then dressed in camo gear, as Where’s Waldo, the red Power Ranger, and Batman on different days.

‘I’m still not used to people cracking up during a conference call without me noticing he’s there,’ she wrote after he’d come out in several costumes.

‘He has always loved wearing ridiculous things in public to embarrass me,’ Cara told BoredPanda. ‘So when I converted our dining room into an office where my camera faced the dining room table, he saw a virtual opportunity to embarrass me during the pandemic.’

He’s had plenty of outfits to wear thanks to friends who followed her social media updates.

‘Friends started mailing him Halloween costumes. I’m told that more costumes are in transit!’ she added.

Luckily, it hasn’t been too much of a disruption for her at work.

‘My colleagues love this. It’s so strange to see a team of people laughing while you’re presenting, and then realizing something ridiculous is going on behind you,’ she said.
