‘I blew $15K of Hugh Jackman’s money on dinner’: Gus Worland on how he blew the actor’s money

Triple M radio star Gus Worland has revealed how he blew more than $15K of actor Hugh Jackman’s money on dinner in one night – leaving Hugh very unimpressed.

Gus, who is an old school friend of Hugh’s, made the revelation on Monday on news.com.au.

In 2007, Gus was in India for three months working on reality TV show, An Aussie Goes Bolly, for which Hugh, 49, was executive producer.

He gave Gus his credit card to pay for the wrap party dinner at a restaurant for the crew of 25 people – with Hugh’s stipulation that Gus ‘keep the bill under five grand’.

Gus and the crew ate a mountain of food and guzzled dozens of large bottles of champagne – the ‘type that Formula One drivers spray on the podium’, wrote Gus.

Upon receiving the bill, Hugh rang Gus the next day and said in a ‘dark tone’: ‘So, the bank rang. They wanted to make sure the credit card charge was correct.’

It was – and the total bill was $15,672.49 in Australian dollars.

Hugh, being a good sport, footed the bill, saying he was proud of the work that Gus and the rest of the crew did on the show.

However, the actor declared he was not going to give Gus his credit card ever again.

‘And he never has,’ wrote Gus.

An Aussie Goes Bolly was a six-part reality show during which Gus follows the Australian cricket team on their 2007 tour of India.

Hugh narrated the documentary-style series, which won an Astra Award for best Sports Program on Australian Pay Television.
