‘I feel raped’ by NYT Magazine article: Madonna, 60, savages female journalist for focusing on age

Madonna says she ‘feels raped’ after reading an interview she did with the New York Times Magazine.

The Queen of Pop appeared on the cover of the Wednesday issue and later shared images she wished would have made it to print as she slammed the interviewer Vanessa Grigoriadis for focusing on her age.

‘After many hours of work! To say that I was disappointed in the article would be an understatement,’ she captioned images including one her raising a celebratory glass of wine and enjoying a pre-shoot chat with her friend.

As Madonna shared her favorite photo from the shoot that the publication opted not to use, she wrote: ‘It seems. You cant fix society and its endless need to diminish, disparage or degrade that which they know is good,’ she told her 13.8 million followers, also posting it to her 2.4 million followers on Twitter. ‘. Especially strong independent women.’

The article discusses Madonna as a 60-year-old mother of six children and probes how she feels about being an older artist facing criticism in the music industry due to her image.

But Madonna says there was much more the magazine could have used.

The singer posted Thursday: ‘The journalist who wrote this article spent days and hours and months with me and was invited into a world which many people dont get to see, but chose to focus on trivial and superficial matters such as the ethnicity of my stand in or the fabric of my curtains and never ending comments about my age which would never have been mentioned had I been a MAN!’

Madonna said in the interview that women are marginalized but should fight against being made to ‘feel some type of way about your age’.

The star claimed she felt ‘raped’ when songs from her 2015 album Rebel Heart leaked early.

Despite chatting to the publication to promote her June 14 release Madame X, she now regrets teaming up with what she calls ‘one of the founding fathers of the Patriarchy’.

‘Women have a really hard time being the champions of other women even if. they are posing as intellectual feminists,’ Madonna continued. ‘Im sorry i spent 5 minutes with her. It makes me feel raped. And yes I’m allowed to use that analogy having been raped at the age of 19.

‘Further proof that the N.Y.T. Is one of the founding fathers of the Patriarchy. And I say—-DEATH TO THE PATRIARCHY woven deep into the fabric of Society. I will never stop fighting to eradicate it.’

Grigoriadis, a contributing journalist to the Times, had shared the link to the article online several times Wednesday with her favorite quotes.

The 45-year-old claims in the article that she was told older people wanted to hear from Madonna about the realities of being an older female.

She posted: ‘Among my middle-aged peers — my female and gay male peers, mostly — she was still an object of fascination. My old crusty punk friends, including an ex-dominatrix, said: “Madonna’s hard-core! I want to know what she thinks about menopause. We need her back in New York.”’

Grigoriadis did not comment when contacted by DailyMail.com.

New York Times didn’t immediately respond when DailyMail.com reached out.

Grigoriadis writes about women using smart methods to fights sexism in her 2017 book Blurred Lines: Rethinking Sex, Power, and Consent on Campus. She won a 2007 National Magazine Award for a profile on Karl Lagerfeld and was nominated for a Mirror Award for another on Arianna Huffington.

In this week’s profile she credits Madonna for paving the way for Lady Gaga, Janelle Monae and Britney Spears.

But it’s not the first time she has been suspected of not supporting women. Nicki Minaj called her out for asking if she ‘thrives off’ beef between Drake, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill and Young Money co-founder Bryan Williams.

‘Why would you even say that? That’s so peculiar. Four grown-ass men are having issues between themselves, and you’re asking me do I thrive off drama?’ Minaj responded in the NYT Magazine 2015. ‘That’s the typical thing that women do. What did you putting me down right there do for you? Women blame women for things that have nothing to do with them. I really want to know why.’

WHO IS VANESSA GRIGORIADIS?

Vanessa Grigoriadis is known for unflinching celebrity profiles.

Nicki Minaj kicked her out in the middle of an interview for asking a question she didn’t like and a teenage  Justin Bieber was stunned to be asked his views on abortion.

According to Wikipedia, Grigoriadis is of Greek descent and grew up in New York City. Grigoriadis graduated from Wesleyan University. She also spent a year studying the sociology of religion at Harvard University.

Grigoriadis is a generalist writer for The New York Times Magazine, and Vanity Fair. Her feature Power Girls reportedly inspired the MTV reality series PoweR Girls. She has been working on and off for the New York magazine since she graduated from college. At the Times she began working as an editorial assistant and eventually worked her way up to becoming a contributing editor at the age of 25.

Grigoriadis on Twitter Wednesday highlighted one quote from Madonna, regarding Harvey Weinstein.

Madonna said she is glad the Weinstein sexual misconduct allegations ‘finally’ came out, and reveals how she ‘had to put up with it’ when she worked with him because he was ‘so powerful’.

The performer recounts how she worked with Weinstein on her 1991 documentary Truth or Dare.

‘Harvey crossed lines and boundaries and was incredibly sexually flirtatious and forward with me when we were working together; he was married at the time, and I certainly wasn’t interested’, she said.

‘I was aware that he did the same with a lot of other women that I knew in the business. And we were all, ‘Harvey gets to do that because he’s got so much power and he’s so successful and his movies do so well and everybody wants to work with him, so you have to put up with it.’

The interview published Wednesday, also addresses the Donald Trump dating rumor seemingly started by his publicist in a 1991 issue of People. The topic arose again when his presidential term started in 2017, but now Madonna clarifies she did not ask him out as claimed, instead she couldn’t shake him.

‘I did a Versace campaign with Steven Meisel at his house in Palm Beach,’ Madonna said about Trump. “He kept going: ‘Hey, is everything O.K.? Finding yourself comfortable? Are the beds comfortable? Is everything good? Are you happy?”.’

Madonna has been a public critic of the president before but in this week’s interview says what she believes an alpha male is behind the façade.

‘They’re overcompensating for how insecure they feel — a man who is secure with himself, a human who is secure with themselves, doesn’t have to go around bullying people all the time,’ she said.

‘What is the context that you’re using your strength in? Are you abusing your power? Women can also abuse their power. And if that’s also backed up by a lack of intelligence, emotional or intellectual, a lack of life experience, a lack of compassion, then it’s really a bad mixture.’

Madonna admits being criticized for flashing flesh in front of the world while raising her brood – which consists of biological daughter Lourdes, plus biological son Rocco and David, Rafael, Rivka, and Levi adopted from Malawi with ex-husband Guy Ritchie – can hurt her feelings.

It’s a challenge for Madonna not to feel frustrated and judged or compare herself to others with harsh comments from social media users so surmises she preferred life without a phone.

‘You can’t win,’ she told the magazine. ‘An ass shot will get you more followers, but it will also get you more detractors and criticism. You’re in that funny place.’

The New York Times Magazine reports she still has her own photographer dedicated to social media and even a lighting person to adjust unflattering bulbs if need be.

Despite her jet-set lifestyle and friends all over the world, Madonna – who divorced British film director Guy Ritchie after eight years in 2008 and was married to Sean Penn 1985 to 1989 – does feel lonely at times.

Her eldest children are 22 and 18, while two are 13 and two are 6.

She realized while in Lisbon for David that the soccer mom life wasn’t for her.

‘I was living with my kids, I felt very cut off from a lot,’ She complained. ‘It was FIFA and my kids’ school and that’s it. I’m fighting with the plumber. I really wanted to make friends.’
