I flew to Rome for the day to celebrate my best friend’s birthday for just £40 – it cost less than an Italian bottle of wine from Waitrose
A woman has revealed she flew to Rome for a 12-hour birthday bash and it cost her less than an Italian bottle of wine.
Jade Wiseman, 24, from Essex, travelled to Rome to celebrate her best friend, Lauren Wenman’s 27th birthday.
The jetsetter bagged return tickets from London Gatwick airport direct to the Italian capital for just £40, coming in cheaper than an Italian bottle of wine.
The price of the 24-year-old’s EasyJet flights worked out less than a bottle of Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino red wine, available for £58 from Waitrose.
The legal assistant, from Essex, said the pair spontaneously decided to take the day trip on March 8.

The best pals thought it was a no brainer after realising that the tickets were half the price of a night out in London.
Jet-setter Jade said: ‘It was my friend’s birthday the following week and the flights were so cheap it was a no brainer. It was cheaper to fly to Rome and back than going on a night out in London.
‘We would easily have spent over £100 going to London for a birthday. In comparison we got to see another country.
‘We definitely had more fun than on a night out, we saw pretty much everything we wanted to. The flights were around £40 all in there and back.’
Jade boarded a plane from Gatwick at 6:45am before heading into the Italian holiday hot spot for the jam-packed day of birthday fun.
The pair managed to see the Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps and even managed to enjoy some pizza and gelato before jumping back on a flight to England at 8.55pm.

The adventures in Rome only set Jade back approximately £75.
She said: ‘It was definitely an experience, but we were so tired the next day. I don’t think everyone at work quite believed it until I was actually on the plane.’
But unlike her work colleagues, Jade’s father wasn’t as shocked. She added: ‘My dad is very adventurous so he wasn’t surprised.’
