I found a gorgeous wedding guest dress but the bride banned me from wearing it

A woman left social media torn over her wedding guest dress- with some saying it looks too ‘bridal’.

The poster, who is understood to be from the US, invited feedback on a gorgeous floral gown which she hopes to wear to a ‘late summer/early fall wedding by the sea.’

The floral lace midi dress, by Kosovo-Albanian designer Teuta Matoshi, which she shared a snap of in a Reddit post, retails at $769.

Although many loved the choice of gown, others suggested it might be a little ‘too bridal’ for a wedding, and advised her to check with the couple.

She later confirmed that the bride agreed with Redditors and asked her not to wear the dress.

The poster shared the wedding dress code, writing: ‘Colourful formal with a floral twist, interesting patterns and prints, high-hats, scarves, oversized jackets, favourite dress.

‘Wedding ceremony by the ocean, followed by dinner reception and party. The setting of the party is a micro-village with festivities shifting between our garden, adjacent the ocean and at our house.’

She continued: ‘I’m kind of thinking of this gorgeous Teuta Matoshi but I suspect folks in this community would have better ideas??’

One person wrote: ‘It’s pretty but find it in a different color, I’ve seen bridal gowns that look just like this.’

Another said: ‘Yea this designer is really blowing up in popularity for brides, I’d avoid any of their white/off-white/cream/ivory etc. dresses as a guest.’

While someone else wrote: ‘My wedding dress is by her! Gorgeous dresses all around, but this one is a bit close to ‘bridal.’ I’d clear it with the bride first.’

Another agreed saying: ‘Yeah even though it’s not white, it’s too bridal.’

While a fifth person wrote: ‘This one looks very bridal to me, especially with that theme. I’d go for a more colorful one to match the dress code, or perhaps one with a less ‘bridal’ silhouette.’

Many rushed to the comments to swoon over the designers glamourous gowns.

One person wrote: ‘Holy s*** I think I just died and went to dress heaven. One of each please.’

Another said: ‘Omg thanks for sharing!!!!’

While someone else wrote: ‘Omg, this is STUNNING. Thank you all for sharing about this designer. Now I shall add it all to my list of things that’ll make me go broke. Haha. They’re such gorgeous dresses, omg.’

The original poster later revealed that she check with the bride who vetoed the gown.

She said: ‘Update: checked with the bride and this dress is canceled. Seeking recommendations for alternatives!’

It comes after another woman divided opinion with a sage green embroidered dress, which commenters felt was too bridal for a wedding.

Lauren Candy, from the UK, who is known on the platform as @laurencandy3, shared a short video of the frock with her more than 260,000 followers.

Describing the pale sage creation as a ‘dream’ in a caption for the clip, in the video itself, she called it ‘quite possibly the most beautiful wedding guest dress ever’.

The garment appears to be from ASOS’ Bridesmaid collection, and called the cami embellished midi dress with embroidery in sage green.

Boasting a midi-length tiered skirt and a square neckline, as well as dainty floral embroidery, the Summery outfit costs £110.

However, while the TikTokker was very taken by the gown, some people in the comments section of her video were less impressed.

Some argued that the frock was a ‘terrible choice’ for a wedding because it looked too white.
