From bee stings to 24-carat gold creations, unusual facials are becoming more and more popular.

And one of the world’s quirkier new anti-aging concoctions is the salmon sperm facial.

Kim Kardashian has had the fishy treatment while Jennifer Aniston has also admitted to trying the procedure.

Polynucleotide (salmon sperm) injections, typically use purified and sterilised DNA molecules extracted from salmon sperm.

But what’s the process actually like?

Travel expert at The Points Guy, Nicky Kelvin, headed to South Korea to try out the unusual facial and reveals exactly how it went in a video shared to Instagram (@nickykelvin).

Filming himself before the facial, Nicky reveals: ‘I’m 38 and I’ve never done anything to my face.’

The travel expert explains that he went to Seoul, South Korea’s capital, as it’s ‘the best place in the world for skincare’.

In the caption of the video, he shares that he was ‘actually quite nervous’ before the procedure.

Nicky chooses to visit La Belle Clinic for his salmon sperm facial and starts the process with a consultation.

The travel expert first has an Oxypod hydrating treatment – facial designed to deeply hydrate and replenish the skin – before getting a thick face mask applied.

After the face mask, numbing cream is applied all over Nicky’s face.

The travel expert explains that the cream ‘took some time to take effect’.

Once the numbing cream has taken effect, Nicky is taken into the doctor’s room for the salmon sperm facial.

He says: ‘We disinfected my face ahead of starting the injections.’

The travel expert then films himself getting the ‘famous salmon sperm injections’. Nicky has 700 injections all over his face.

Nicky videos the results of his facial a week late and describes his skin as 'definitely fresher, brighter and not bad for an old man'

He explains that the product is designed to ‘stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve hydration and rejuvenate the skin’.

Nicky admits that the treatment was ‘painful in places’ but says that the pain wasn’t ‘unbearable’ and adds that his face was looking ‘kind of bumpy’ right after the treatment.

He then gets a face mask and an LED light treatment to finish his procedure.
