Kat Kamalani, from Utah, took to TikTok to dish on why the role is ‘not as glorious as it seems.’

The mom-of-two, 33, criticized the hierarchical system, intensive training and demanding passengers – among other bugbears.

And other social media users also claimed to have experienced similar issues when they also worked in the industry.

In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 330,000 times, Kat can be seen sitting in her car as she speaks directly to the camera.

She begins: ‘I hated being a flight attendant and this is why I quit.

‘I was a flight attendant for six years and I was [working on] one of the biggest airlines that you could possibly imagine.

‘I hated every single second of it.’

Elaborating further as to why, Kat explains: ‘Number one, your whole life depends on seniority – and what I mean by that is, when you get hired, that’s your seniority date and that dictates everything.

‘It dictates what aircraft you’re flying, what holidays you’re flying, if you have weekends off, if you can hold certain dates off.

‘Another big thing of why it’s so important is when you travel. For my airline you can book for standby – meaning if there are empty seats on the airplane, you can get on based on your seniority.

‘And I would say new is considered at least five years or less.’

Kat said the 'intense' training lasted for two months and consisted of 'six days a week and 15-hour days'

The content creator, who now has more than one million followers on the video-sharing platform, continued: ‘The next thing is the training is so intense. I had to do two months of training – it was six days a week, we did 15-hour days.

‘You take a million different types of tests and if you don’t pass tests within 80 per cent of above, they kick you out of the program.’

Another issue she said was simply ‘the people,’ before adding: ‘People think flight attendants are there just to serve you drinks – and truly, we’re there for your safety first.

‘People are traveling when they are in the hardest times of their life. They are sleep deprived, they are traveling for an emergency or a funeral…

‘There’s a lot of times people are at their lowest when traveling and who gets the brunt of it?’

However, her list did not stop there as Kim added that another issue was the ‘flights that you have to fly.’

She said: ‘Everyone thinks when you’re flying at the very beginning that you’re flying to Honolulu and Paris – and that can be the case.

‘But mostly you are flying to three destinations a day, having very short layovers and you’re waking up super early and doing red eyes – it’s just not fun.’

@katkamalani

I spill my feelings/secrets about being a flight attendant for six years. Traveling the world with so much fun, but it comes at a cost and not to mention you don’t ever have a routine or schedule That’s the same.

Briefly touching on the benefits of the job, she stated: ‘At the time, me and my husband could not afford airplane tickets around the world and we got to visit everywhere in the world.

‘I am so grateful for that and I got to bring my parents along and my children along.

‘When you’re by yourself exploring the world on a layover, it’s kind of sad.’

Kim concluded: ‘That’s my opinion on why being a flight attendant is not as glorious as it seems.’

Another added: ‘The true side of it. Not to mention being jet lagged & major turbulence.’

And a third simply said: ‘This 100 per cent. I felt the exact some way.’
