‘Worst thing about English football’: Fans fume on social media as it is confirmed the England Band will return for the Three Lions last-16 clash with Germany… as one says they would ‘rather have vuvuzelas back!’
Fans are fuming on social media after it was confirmed that the England Band would return for the Euro 2020 last-16 clash against Germany.
The Three Lions enter the knockout stage of the tournament on Tuesday at Wembley against their old rivals, after topping the group stage.
And it was confirmed on BBC Breakfast, that the England Band would be in attendance at the game, their first since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was confirmed on BBC Breakfast that the England Band will return for the game on Tuesday
Ahead of the game, the band appeared on the BBC show on Tuesday morning where they played their most common song ‘The Great Escape’.
The moment was shared on Twitter and attracted a lot of social media response with more than 50 retweets and nearly 1,000 quote tweets.
However, the video wasn’t met with a positive response, with one user who replied having a Twitter account called ‘Ban the England Band’.
They commented: ‘It is 100% about the time that we banned them. Absolutely terrible.
‘The worst thing about English football. Worse than the hope that kills you. Worse than the negative football. Worse than Dier and Henderson’.
Other users commented that it was the worst thing about watching an England game.
Gavin Juniper said: ‘This is the worst thing about watching an England game. And there’s a lot of competition in that department,’ while Pepe Silvia added: ‘Literally the worst thing about English football just awful.’
One Twitter user even said they would rather bring vuvuzela’s back.
The vuvuzela was an instrument that was first made famous back at the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

Rob Michael-Phillips tweeted: ‘The very worst thing about England games. I’d rather have vuvuzelas back.’
Another Twitter user replied to the BBC’s video saying: ‘Wow unanimous verdict in the comments. Finally something that brings the country together.’
The England Band were formed after John Hemmingham smuggled a bugle into an Everton vs Sheffield Wednesday game in 1993.
Trevor Francis, then Wednesday manager, asked him to put a band together.
They were asked in 1996 by England manager Glenn Hoddle and David Davis, the FA’s chief executive, to play for the Three Lions and are best known for playing The Great Escape.
Should England emerge victorious on Tuesday night they will stand a good chance of making the final.
Gareth Southgate’s men will face either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals and then Denmark or Czech Republic in the semi-final’s if they make it that far.
Should England make the final, they will face one of Italy, Belgium, Spain or Switzerland on July 11 at Wembley.
