Iga Swiatek blazes through to the second round of the US Open as she kickstarts her title defense with a straight-sets win over Rebecca Peterson

Iga Swiatek kickstarted her US Open title defense with a 6-0, 6-1 straight-sets victory over Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson. 

The World No. 1 breezed through to the second round on her return to Arthur Ashe Stadium, needing just 25 minutes to take the first set 6-0. 

The 22-year-old continued blazing her way through the first-round match with Peterson, ranked 86th, winning just one game.
