Elon Musk has insisted he will still be Tesla’s boss in five years’ time – unless he dies first.

Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum on video link, the billionaire also criticised the vandalism and violence against his companies over his association with Donald Trump.

‘They’re on the wrong side of history and that’s an evil thing to do,’ he said – adding that some will go to prison ‘and deserve it’.

Asked if he will still be chief executive of the electric car maker at the end of the decade, Musk replied: ‘Yes.’

And when asked if there was any doubt about his assertion, he added: ‘I might die.’

Tesla cars, factories and offices have been vandalised in several countries recently, while sales of its electric cars have tumbled amid an apparent backlash against Musk, 53. He said that Tesla has lost sales ‘on the Left’ but gained on the Right.
