I’m A Celebrity contestant Ellie Cole was left with a gruesome hand injury after participating in Tuesday’s jungle trial.
Hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris watched on in horror as the 32-year-old Paralympic swimmer was lowered into a pit by fellow sports star Peter Daicos.
She fed her hand through holes filled with creepy crawlies like snakes and rodents to obtain yellow stars.
Ellie’s toughest test came when she reached into a box filled with rats, with one biting and scratching her hand, refusing to let go as she tried to unscrew a star inside.
‘Oh my god, it hurts so much! Ow!’ she cried as Robert winced from above.

‘Oh my god, it’s latched on! It’s eating you!’ he yelled.
The I’m A Celebrity co-hosts were forced to step in and instruct Ellie to move on to the next box.
Julia called out to Ellie: ‘Get your hand out! Get your hand out, Ellie. Get your hand out! Let move on from that box, love. Don’t put your hand back in there.’

Ellie’s faced a tough obstacle when she reached into a box filled with rats
‘I want the star though!’ Ellie replied.
The athlete was later faced with a box of small snakes, with one nipping her to ‘back off’.
‘You have got nerves of steel!’ Robert said. ‘The snake’s not trying to get you, it’s just defending its territory.’
After being lowered into water with a crocodile and collecting two more stars, Ellie was determined to be lifted back up to retrieve the stars from the box of rats.

‘Ellie, we cannot guarantee those rats are not going to bite you again,’ Julia advised.
This time, no rats appeared to nip the Paralympian and she successfully grabbed both stars, collecting 12 stars in total for the challenge.
‘You’re a machine!’ Julia exclaimed.
‘I cannot believe what I just saw,’ agreed Robert.
