I’m A Celebrity: Viewers turn on ‘arrogant’ and ‘bossy’ James Haskell after he snaps at Andy Whyment

He’s spent the week acting as Camp Leader.

Yet I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers accused James Haskell of letting the power go to his head during Tuesday’s episode of the show.

The former rugby player, 34, faced the wrath of disgruntled viewers after he snapped at Andy Whyment in a move that was branded ‘disrespectful’ by the public.

The night before, nine out of the 12 campmates were treated to a roast dinner after winning stars in the live Bushtucker Trial, but Andy, Cliff Parisi and Ian Wright sadly missed out on the feast.

Keen to hear about the spread he had missed, Andy quizzed his fellow campmates about their meal, asking: ‘Did you get orange juice?’

James then jumped in, snapping: ‘Stop worrying about last night’s dinner, mate – you’re honestly going to do your head in. You’re going to torture yourself.’

Turning to the other campmates, James continued: ‘I’ve literally heard him ask 20 times, I wouldn’t have asked because I can’t have it.

‘It doesn’t matter if the whole building was made out of chocolate.’

Taken aback by the outburst, Andy responded: ‘It’s not doing my head, I am just asking what you had last night.’

Confessing that he may have taken things too far, James mused in the Bush Telegraph: ‘It’s just my mentality but it could have come across like I was shutting him down a bit. I didn’t mean to.’

Not impressed: Despite apologising to Andy, viewers denounced the rugby player for his actions, taking to Twitter to vent

Despite apologising to Andy, viewers denounced the rugby player for his actions, taking to Twitter to vent: ‘I’m not fond of Ian & James with them being disrespectful towards Andy & Andrew like that #ImACeleb #antanddec’;

‘James is actually doing my nut in. Shut ur mouth and let Andy talk about the potatoes he didn’t have last night #ImACeleb’; ‘My heart literally sank when James went at Andy for asking about the roast. Who does he think he is man #ImACeleb’;

‘James is BL***Y irritating, bossy b***er. IF ANDY WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT GRAVY AND ORANGE JUICE, LET HIM KNOW ABOUT GRAVY AND ORANGE JUICE. #Imaceleb’; ‘I think James is becoming abit nasty I’ve gone off him after he shouted at Andy #ImACeleb’;

‘Can’t stand James. Leave Andy alone. #ImACeleb’; ‘Decided I don’t like James. Arrogant. Camp leader has gone to his head. Andy for next leader #ImACeleb

Fair play Andy! Pointing out nothing was smuggled to him and Cliff. And yet, they were all punished. Ian got the contraband but if it had have been Andrew he’d be b*tching like mad! His buddy James wasn’t too slow trying to bury the conversation either #ImACeleb #Smugglegate’.

Cruel to be kind: Some viewers were quick to defend James, claiming his comments were made out of kindness towards Andy

Some viewers were quick to defend James, however, musing: ‘pedalling this thought of James being nasty, he simply didn’t want Andy torturing himself knowing what he missed out on. I know he wanted to live vicariously but it came from a good place from James. #ImACeleb #James’;

‘Why are people getting on James so much? He was just trying to help Andy thinking he might be winding himself up thinking about food. And he then apologised to Andy because he thought he might have upset him. He always puts everyone before himself. #ImACeleb’;

‘I know James probably didn’t mean it but the way he kept shutting Andy down when Andy just wanted too be happy for everyone else was so so rude 🙁 not liking the way Andy is being treated by some of the camp mates tbh:( #ImACeleb’.

Campmates won’t be under the leadership of James for much longer, however, as it was revealed during Tuesday’s episode of Extra Camp that the public have voted for Caitlyn Jenner to become the next Camp Leader.
