In her initial clip, which has been viewed more than 1.7 million times, Nikki demonstrates her point while using closed captions.

She uploaded the clip alongside a caption that read: ‘Cucumbers aren’t talked about much when it comes to choking, so I wanted to shed some light so you feel more prepared.’

Viewers rushed to the comments in their droves to thank her for the insight, as one wrote: ‘Thank you for sharing I see too many moms not cutting properly.’

Another added: ‘This is so helpful. I keep wanting to give but avoiding for this reason!’

She held up a cucumber and said that it was not well known as a ‘choking hazard.’

Nikki continued: ‘Let me show you how to safely prepare cucumbers to ensure they stay safe for your little one.’

The most popular options included steaming until soft before pureeing, cutting them into wide thin pieces, and even grating for older children.

She concluded by saying that parents can try slicing if they are ‘comfortable with their chewing abilities.’
