I’m a Twin Peaks bartender and I made more than $600 in one shift

A bartender has left the internet stunned after revealing she made more than $600 during a single shift – equating to nearly $50 an hour.

Avery Linhart, who works at the restaurant chain Twin Peaks, documented her earnings on TikTok earlier this month with a clip that sparked fierce debate about how much restaurant workers are paid.

Avery, from Texas, explained at the start of the now-viral video, which has so far gained nearly two million views, that her rent was due, but she was $300 short.

She hoped to earn enough to cover what she still owed during that shift and, after working 13 hours at the eatery, she had taken home more than enough to cover the deficit.

During her bumper shift, Avery earned a whopping $631 across 13 hours, equating to about $48.50 per hour.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last year that the average hourly wage in America was $31.

Dozens of social media users took to the comments section to voice their shock, with one person admitting, ‘That’s more than I make in two weeks.’

‘Bruh, I get $800 bi-weekly,’ someone else wrote, while another viewer added, ‘God damn, almost a thousand in one day.’

‘Why do servers always claim to make so much but then never have money for their bills?’ a different user asked.

Someone else pondered: ‘All I see is waitresses complaining about making $2 an hour, but then they go and make $631 over [13] hours.

‘The average pay in the US for someone with a bachelors degree is $25 an hour. She made almost double that,’ the same user wrote in a separate comment.

When someone asked Avery how she was short on rent if she makes so much, she explained, ‘Because I spend $16k a year on tuition, $15k on rent, and pay for everything else while putting money into savings.’

Other viewers defended the TikToker, with one person commenting, ‘Not y’all being pressed about a girl making money while working a normal job. I swear to God, you just don’t want women to succeed.’

‘Girl, don’t listen to any of these fools in the comments,’ another comment read.

‘You’re doing your best and working hard. Good for you. People are so arrogant. You’re killing it,’ said a different person. Someone else gushed, ‘Get that bag girl.’

In a second video shared a few days later, Avery revealed she made a further $567 during a 15-hour shift.
