An Australian woman living in the UK has revealed the aspects of London life that have shocked her the most. 

Comedian Jenny Tian, who was born in Finland but raised in Sydney, took to her YouTube channel under the handle @nomnomjenny to post a clip that has garnered over 238,000 views. 

Introducing the video, she said: ‘Here are the weirdest things you notice as an Aussie living in London’. 

Sharing the first aspect of London life that surprised her, she focused on the wildlife, which she jokingly compared to ‘a Disney movie if it had stabbings’, thanks to the presence of animals such as foxes, squirrels and hedgehogs. 

Next up, she revealed her surprise at the wide range of supermarkets available for shoppers across the UK.

With a tongue-in-cheek comment about how this should promote healthy marketplace competition to keep prices low, she quipped: ‘What in the cost of living?’, in reference to the crisis that continues to see food bills being sky-high for Brits across the UK. 

Her third revelation saw her centre on popular London shopping centre Westfield, which has outlets in the Shepherds Bush and Stratford areas of the city, as she was surprised to find that it was ‘fancy’. 

Comparing it to how the company’s reputation in Australia, she joked: ‘Westfield [in London is fancy. [In Australia] it is meant to be the place where kids [skip] school and make out in the car park. Why is it glamorous and respectable?’

Finally, Jenny said she was also taken aback by London’s ‘extremely narrow roads’. 

She said: ‘There is only one lane in each direction so there is so much traffic that builds up.’

Responding in the comments, viewers singled out some of the aspects of London life she pointed out, and sought to explain the reasons behind them. 

They said: ‘Every British person has their favourite supermarket. And I mean everyone’.

Another wrote :’The secret is to not be a driver in London, and get around by bus, tube, bike, or your own two feet instead – walking around is much more pleasant when crossing more than two lanes of car traffic at once is noteworthy!’

One other posted: ”’How do you have a healthy blood pressure”. We don’t’. 

Another viewer said: ‘London traffic is bad, but then you read that it’s not even in the top 50 for congestion across major cities. Makes you wonder how bad it is elsewhere.’
