- He thanks his team-mates for helping him overcome the ‘difficult’ moments
- He also says PSG are prepared to ‘fight’ for Champions league glory this season
- Neymar hopes his new found form will help them beat Atalanta next Wednesday
Neymar is ready to spearhead Paris Saint-Germain’s push for Champions League glory as he insists he has found his ‘best form’ since his mega-money move to France.
The 28-year-old moved to PSG in a world-record £200million deal from Barcelona back in 2017 and despite an electrifying scoring record of 70 goals in 82 games, he has had his struggles along the way.
Neymar claims that his team-mates have helped him overcome the difficult moments he has experienced at the club – notably through injuries and when the club’s ultras turned on him after he tried to leave in 2019.
Neymar claims he has hit his ‘best form’ since arriving at Paris Saint-Germain three years ago
‘During these three years I have acquired a lot of knowledge,’ Neymar told PSG’s official website.
‘I have lived through happy moments and difficult ones, especially when the injuries didn’t allow me to play.
‘With the help of my team-mates, I was able to overcome them and focus on what really matters, our performances on the field which translate into titles.
Neymar joined the Ligue 1 side in a world record £200m move from Barcelona back in 2017
He has helped PSG win a domestic treble and a place in the Champions League quarter-finals
‘Our fans, the club and all fans can see the fight of our team in any game. I am in my best form since I arrived in Paris, the team is like a family.
‘We want to win the Champions League title. We will fight because we have never been so close.’
Champions League glory would be the perfect way for the Brazilian to banish the memories of his harder times in France.
Neymar fell out of favour with the clubs fans after trying to leave the Ligue 1 side back in 2019.
After negotiating a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid the PSG ultras warned Neymar that they would not give him a warm welcome when he returned to the French side.
The Ultra’s even released a statement in which they shamed Neymar for ‘being disrespectful on several occasions towards our club, even to have humiliated it at times.’
Neymar’s career at PSG has, however, been plagued by injury ever since he joined the club
Neymar is now hoping his new found form will help PSG beat Atalanta next Wednesday
Neymar is hoping all will be forgiven if he can help guide his team to Champions League success this month.
PSG booked their place in the quarter-finals after defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 shortly before the pandemic brought football to a halt across the continent.
The Brazilian is now looking to take one step closer to that Champions League silverware by defeating Italian side Atalanta next Wednesday.
