A New Zealand immigrant father-of-three has been sentenced to six months in prison after violently punching a stranger in the face outside a Melbourne pub.

Ngaputa laughed as he arrived at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, according to 9 News.

He pleaded guilty to charges of recklessly causing injury, behaving indecently and being drunk in public.

He also dropped his pants in an indecent act.
The victim was walking along Nepean Highway near Davey Street when Ngaputa punched him in the face in a random attack.
The man was unconscious before he hit the ground, such was the force of Ngaputa’s punch.
Ngaputa then fled the scene of the attack in a friend’s car.

Magistrate Julian Ayres told Ngaputa the attack could’ve caused the victim’s death.
‘We need to protect the community from this type of behaviour, it is completely unacceptable and horrendous behaviour.’
Ngaputa was jailed for six months and placed on an 18-month community corrections order.
He has also been barred from any licensed premises for two years.
