A Texas widow has said she is personally offended by the two-year sentence an illegal Mexican immigrant received following a fatal car crash which killed her husband and two of her children.
Courtney Hacking said was astounded that Margarito Quintero Rosales did not receive a more stringent sentence after he fell asleep at the wheel, describing it as a ‘slap on the wrist’.
Rosales, who was driving without a valid license, plowed head-on into the car of Peter Hacking in March last year as he returned from the babysitter with four-year-old daughter Ellie and 22-month-old son Grayson.
Speaking to Fox News, Courtney, who is now left alone to care for their four other children, said that Rosales should never have been in the country in the first place.

She said she misses her husband every single day: ‘Peter was a wonderful man, he was a volunteer firefighter. He was a hero to many. He would give you the shirt of his back if you needed it’
Speaking about her children she said: ‘Ellie (L) and Grayson (R) were both beautiful old souls. Ellie was my only girl and she was a princess’
Speaking to Fox News she said: ‘He committed so many crimes, by being here to begin with. What people seem to forget in this matter is the term illegal immigrant. Illegal in front of it is already making him a criminal.’
According to police Rosales swerved into Peter’s car after falling asleep at the wheel.
Peter was driving home after picking up his two young children from the babysitter, reports say.
Rosales has already been jailed for the incident and is still set to complete the remaining 110 days of his sentencing.
The mother-of-four is still in disbelief: ‘I don’t understand how he did only get two years.’

She said she wants the laws to be stricter so no-one has to endure the pain she suffered: ‘I want our laws enforced,’ she said. ‘To me I take it offensively. I take it personally.’
‘The message needs to be put across to them that when you come to this country you need to do it legally because when they come here all they’re getting is…they’re committing crimes, they’re getting a slap on the wrist and they’re going back to Mexico or they’re going back to whatever country they came from.’
According to the Dallas Morning News Quintero was also arrested after the crash for having no driver’s license.’
