Ina Garten trolls Reese Witherspoon’s healthy habits with her own tips: ‘Drink more and stay in bed’

Ina Garten has left the internet in stitches after expertly trolling Reese Witherspoon’s self-care goals for 2022 by sharing some ‘easier’ lifestyle tips of her own – including drinking more ‘large cosmos’, binge-watching addictive TV shows, and lounging in bed for as long as possible.

The 73-year-old celebrity chef detailed her very realistic daily habits in a witty comment left on an Instagram post shared by Reese, 45, in which the actress opened up about the wellness-focused lifestyle changes she is ‘working towards’ at the start of the year.

For Reese, that means starting each day with a big glass of water, getting outside for at least 10 minutes every morning, and spending 30-60 minutes reading without any distraction.

She also said she tries to be in bed by 10pm every night and doesn’t let herself stay up late watching TV – to ensure she gets eight full hours of sleep.

However, while many of Reese’s fans shared their thanks to the star for helping them to start off the year in a healthier, more productive way, Ina quickly offered an alternative to her fans, writing in a comment left on the video: ‘To quote @reesewitherspoon – that sounds great but I’m probably not doing any of those things! LOL!! My formula is easier to follow.’

The beloved chef then proceeded to outline her four main goals for the new year, writing: ‘1. Drink more large cosmos 2. Stay up late watching addictive streaming series, 3. Stay in bed in the morning playing Sudoku instead of reading a good book. 4. Spend more time (safely) with people you love. In a pandemic, I do what I can!’

Her suggestion that people embrace 2022 as the year in which they ‘drink more large cosmos’ proved particularly popular with her fans – who pointed back to a viral video posted by Ina in March 2020 in which she educated her followers on how to mix-up an enormous version of the classic Cosmopolitan cocktail.

This included starting each day with a big glass of water, getting outside for at least 10 minutes every morning, and spending 30-60 minutes reading without any distraction

In her Instagram post, Reese explained that she recently started to think about her routine after reading the book Atomic Habits by James Clear.

‘I’ve been thinking a lot about habits lately, like walking the dog everyday. My friend sent me this book called Atomic Habits and it was really interesting,’ she explained.

‘It’s really about how the habits that you do every single day, they really can change your life.

‘So if you’re doing something that’s one per cent better for you every day, you’re going to get one per cent better every day.

‘If you’re doing something that’s one per cent worse for you everyday than you’re going to get worse everyday.

‘I wanted to just share what my daily habits are that I’m really working on and the ones I’ve trusted for a long time.’

A description of the book reads, ‘Packed with self-improvement strategies, Atomic Habits will teach you how to make the small changes that will transform your habits and deliver remarkable results.’
