A massive humpback whale was seen jumping right next to boaters on a beautiful afternoon in Australia.

The astonishing footage was captured November 12th at Bannister Head Point in New South Wales by an onlooker in the group.

One woman aboard the 40-foot boat, Sarah McDonald, said the friends were out for a casual Sunday outing when they came across the cool sight.

‘We sighted a few whales migrating South on our voyage. We respect these beautiful creatures and wanted to give them plenty of space between us them,’ McDonald said, according to KMPH.

‘We still had the breeze on our stern, the calves seemed to be moving closer to us in there frolicking. The breach came from nowhere, it caught us totally off guard.’

The Aussies can be heard oohing and aahing over the rare sighting, while Mcdonald said they were ‘shocked’ the mammal came so close.

‘I saw the whale’s eye and every detail of its body. The noise of this monster landing was so loud,’ she said.

‘We are seasoned sailors but it is a sail we will remember for the rest of our lives.’
