A man has captured the moment a hundreds of tiny spiders of a rare species hatched in his back yard.
Colin Butt was quick to whip out his camera earlier this month after he noticed a huge clump of white spiders suspended on a web in his Moruya Heads garden in New South Wales’ south east.
‘A batch of St Andrews Cross baby spiders had just hatched a few minutes before I spotted them,’ Mr Butt said.

The birth appeared to have occurred inside an outdoor greenhouse, where the parent spider had spun itself an intricate web in the roof’s corner.
The large St Andrews Cross spider was pictured positioned separately from its spawn following the dramatic hatching.
