Indie rock fans rejoice as Interpol and Bloc Party announce Australian tour – but two states are left furious as they miss out on concert dates: ‘Just like Taylor Swift’

New York rockers Interpol will join English rock band Bloc Party for a three-date co-headline tour Down Under this coming Spring.

The bands will each play on November 16 in Melbourne, before heading to Sydney on November 18, and finishing their Aussie jaunt in Brisbane on November 22.

Fans of the indie darlings took to social media on Thursday to rejoice as ticket sales for the shows were announced for July 5.

‘It’s a good day to be an Australian,’ wrote one fan on Interpol’s social media.

Another gushed: ‘Oh my f***ing God!.’

But fans in Western Australia complained about the limited tour dates.

‘Ummm you forgot Perth guys . Just like Taylor Swift,’ sniffed one devotee, while another added: ‘Dream line up. Sad you aren’t doing Adelaide. Fingers crossed I can get to Melbourne.’

Meanwhile, fans of  Bloc Party were equally impressed with the news, while global followers expressed their envy since the tour seems so far limited to Australia.

‘This line up needs to tour the US,’ suggested one fan, while another added, ‘Please do this in the UK, literally my tour favourite bands.’

‘Massive tour. Three dates,’ complained another fan.

Both bands released critically acclaimed albums recently.

Interpol, first formed in 1997, dropped their hit album The Other Side of Make Believe in July, 2022.
