Influencer Kat Clark hits back at ‘mean girls’ who said her 13-year-old daughter’s TikTok Awards outfit was ‘too revealing’

Kat Clark has hit back at the ‘mean girl’ fashion police who slammed the outfit her 13-year-old daughter wore to the TikTok Awards as ‘too revealing.’

Déjà 13, wore a midriff-baring two piece ensemble as she accompanied her mum to the social media platform’s star-studded award ceremony in Sydney last week.

The top comment on a photo of the TikTok star mum and daughter posing together at the TikTok Awards reads: ‘Déjà looks like she came from a strip club.’

Kat, who hosted the event alongside Robert Irwin, on Monday took to Instagram to hit back at the torrent of online criticism over her teenager’s yellow outfit.

Kat posted an image of Kim Kardashian’s infamous all-black 2021 Met Gala outfit to her Stories and wrote, ‘This is what Déjà is going to wear to the next awards to keep everyone happy,’ with a laugh-crying emoji.

‘If you’re a mean girl, please unfollow me,’ she captioned a TikTok posted to her 6.7million followers on Saturday.

Kat said she had been reading everyone’s negative comments about her appearance at the awards with her daughter and hit back at keyboard warriors ‘not just bringing women down but bringing TEENAGERS down.’

‘So many people had a problem with Déjà’s outfit and it just blows my mind,’ she said.

‘I never have and I never will control what my children wear. One of my main goals as a parent is to make my children feel confident in their bodies. At times I may make a few suggestions, but if my child wants to wear something, I will let them.

‘And isn’t it easier being nice instead of a mean girl? I don’t get it.’

Kat put on a busty display at the event alongside her daughter, in a sequin mint green dress.

The mum-of-two started making TikTok dances for her pre-teen daughter, who she had when she was just 17, and this year took out the TikTok Business of the Year Award for her ezcema cream that she developed for Déjà.

In 2022, Kat was named Creator of the Year, and also took out  Digital Creator of the Year at the AACTAs.

In another video shared on Sunday, the 37-year-old told the people who were still upset about her daughter’s awards outfit to, ‘Seriously, get over it.’

‘So many people have negative opinions on how I parent. But I’m not going to let anyone change that because at the end of the day, I have the best relationship with my kids.

‘They tell me everything. We work together. Déjà is always thinking about others and how they feel. And I may not be the perfect parent but how my child treats others, with so much love and respect, makes me think that I’ve done a pretty good job.’

Déjà, who will turn 14 next fortnight, is a burgeoning influencer in her own right and has 1.4million followers on her mum-managed Instagram account.

‘My daughter said: “Mum you actually have an interesting life, you should vlog it”. I committed to a video a day for 30 days, and it went ballistic,’ Kat has previously said when describing her sudden ascent to social media stardom.

The influencer suffered a wardrobe dilemma of her own as she hosted the social media awards show, with fans pointing out how she and influencer Georgia Murray wore the exact same dress.

She accessorised the halter neck gown which featured a corset bodice with a silver clutch and clear heels.

Meanwhile, Love Island star Georgia accentuated her features in the same dress which she completed with a black bag.

The former reality star curled her long brunette locks and wore gold earrings to the event.

Georgia shared a video of her arrival to her social media, when fans quickly pointed out she was in the same dress as Kat.

‘That’s the same dress as Kat Clark,’ one person.

Another asked: ‘Did everyone just shop at the same stores?’

It comes after Kat faced backlash earlier this month for wearing an eye-catching dress to a friend’s wedding, with fans labelling the look as ‘rude’ and ‘disrespectful.’

She couldn’t contain her excitement when showing her 6.6million TikTok followers her wedding guest outfit for a friend’s nuptials.
