Bloodied woman ‘kidnapped at knifepoint by a man in a van’ is saved when a stranger hears her scream for help and calls the cops

An Alabama woman was rescued from a man, who allegedly kidnapped her at knifepoint and forced her into the back of a van after a witness called police and reported the incident.  

Brookside police said the call 911 call from an unidentified citizen came in around 2.45pm on Sunday. 

According to police, the witness said the suspect kidnapped the woman while brandishing a knife on Brookside Coalburg Road. 

The woman was reportedly bleeding from her head and screamed: ‘Help, he’s gonna kill me!’

That’s when the suspect, who has been identified as Sean E. Sanders, of Los Angeles, allegedly forced the victim into the back of a white van and fled the scene. 

The witness then followed the van and called authorities to report the incident, giving officers a description of the vehicle and its tag number. 

In a statement, police said once they spotted Sanders, he led them on a brief chase.

Officers were eventually able to block the suspect’s vehicle in along Mt Olive Road where they observed an ‘injured female victim bleeding from her head being held against her will and forced to the floorboard by the suspect’.

Police attempted to enter the van, but the suspect fought them off and rammed a police unit before fleeing the scene. 

A second barricade was then set up, bringing Sanders’ vehicle to a stop. But Sanders allegedly tried to run over a Brookside officer who shot into the van.

Sanders then managed to crawl into the back of the van with the victim and held the woman knife point.

For more than 35 minutes, officers attempted to negotiate with Sanders while the woman screamed for help. Sanders allegedly demanded that the officers kill him. 

‘Fearing immediate danger to the victim Brookside tactical officers breeched the rear of the suspect vehicle, tased the suspect and made entry into the front of the vehicle,’ officers said in a statement. 

Sanders was then taken into custody as the woman was rushed to a local hospital.

The victim suffered serious injuries with cuts to the head and face from when the suspect struck her in the head multiple times with a tire iron. 

She was treated on the scene after the rescue and transported to the hospital in stable condition. 

According to authorities, Sanders has an extensive criminal history involving assault, kidnapping, and narcotics arrest.

Police said the doors were also chained shut from the inside.

According to the victim and witness, Sanders was attempting to drag the woman victim into the woods with the intent to kill her when the witness stopped and encountered the suspect.

Sanders was transported to the Brookside Jail pending multiple felony charges.
