A woman has been left disgusted after discovering a deep-fried bug embedded into one of her KFC chips.

Queensland woman Hannah Stephens shared the photos of her meal from KFC to the ‘Tea Time’ Facebook group on Sunday night, revealing the crispy bug sitting inside the chip.

The insect appeared to be almost as wide as the potato chip it was deep-fried into, leaving social media users horrified.

The vile find was more than enough for Ms Stephens to be turned off the fast food chain forever, saying ‘as if I’m ever eating there again’.

Ms Stephens reported the discovery to KFC, updating her post as soon as the fast food giant got back to her.

‘Lol KFC gave me a $20 discount… I’m sorry but $20 doesn’t make up for that sh*t,’ she wrote.

She also said she had contacted the Queensland health department and is waiting for a response.

The post attracted more than 300 comments from mortified members of the Facebook group.

‘I would have been crying and throwing up,’ one member commented.

‘The fact that you’ve eaten half the box means there’s a fair chance you’ve eaten other bugs,’ another responded.

The insect appeared to be a damsel bug with distinctive bulging eyes and needle-like mouth that it uses to hunt mites, aphids and insect eggs.

Damsel bugs are usually found in row and tree crops and can sometimes be used by gardeners to destroy moth eggs.

The stomach-churning find comes after a man from Kwinana, in Perth’s south, found a used food safety glove at the bottom of his box of KFC chips in October.

‘Might want to avoid KFC for a bit. Dirty used gloves found in a box of chips,’ he wrote in a Facebook post.

That same month, a video published to social media showed teenage workers at a Queensland KFC licking cooked chicken and grabbing lettuce with their bare hands.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to KFC for comment.
